Latest update:DriveCatalog goes from Alpha to Beta release!
 Main Window |
The main window uses the familiar Microsoft Explorer-style interface. Your entire collection of CD's and DVD's is shown in the tree on the left side of the display. The files in a directory are listed in the view to the right. The right pane supports all the standard views: Large Icons, Small Icons, List and Details.
Note the icons in the tree on the left side of the screen: they indicate if the drive is a CD/DVD, a hard drive, a floppy, a network drive, or even a RAM drive!
(And, yes, the splitter bar works just like you'd expect.)

The heart of the program! Allows you to search your entire media collection from one place. Wildcards are fully supported, and can be used anywhere in the search expression. In addition, the search results can be sorted by anything.
Searching is very fast. For example, an Athlon 1200 can search a collection of over 50GB (that's almost 100 CD's!) in under 3 seconds!
You can also use this tool to catalog your hard drive and search for files instantly. Hate dealing with Microsoft's kludgy Indexing Service? Give it the boot!!!

 Add New Media |
Adding new discs to your collection is a snap! Simply select the drive letter, and optionally type the name that is written on the CD label. You may also enter a storage location - a great way to know which binder or CD tower a certain disc is stored in!
Discs can be categorized as Private, which puts them into a separate view in the main window. In the future, reports generated by DriveCatalog will allow you to filter the results as "All CD's", "Public Only", or "Private Only."

I have always believed that a program should be very customizable by the user. All my programs have tried to use this design philosophy, and with this one, I went really far. Just about any major setting for the user-interface can be set via a neatly organized options dialog box.
(For power users, configuration changes can also be made directly in the registry.)

 Customizable |
| 100% Adware and Spyware Free |
I hate adware and spyware as much as anyone else out there, so NO PROGRAM FROM NIKHIL.NET CONTAINS THEM. Period.
|
| 100% Uninstallable |
Like you, I hate programs that bury settings and files all over your computer, so that you can never remove them completely. DriveCatalog installs no extras and does not clutter your registry with extra junk entries.
