Herein lie the stories sung of Nikhil when the world was young.

02-23-2004, 10:10PM [BF]

One entire commercial break of pure silence. That's different.

02-17-2004, 7:14PM

I've gotten more details on the Sony PSX - the all-in-one media center device. It is a PlayStation 2, hard-disk video recorder (think TiVo), DVD burner, DVD player, CD player, and Memory Stick picture viewer. (Whew!)

Sony PSX

I'll be uploading a video about this to my website later tonight, along with more links.

Here's an offsite link for now.

In between stressing out on my project, I've been updating the Diablo 2 Item Toolkit. The framework is quite full-featured and is progressing nicely, thanks to some help from a couple of the guys at LadderHall, most notably ZonFire99.

02-13-2004, 3:24PM [BF]

Our possible leads to fix our project, have not panned out. We are now pursuing other avenues of coding, including dropping to pure assembly language.

02-11-2004, 11:11PM

Some very strange stuff going on with my DSL connection tonight. But, I'm back up as of 30 seconds ago.

Other updates from the day: we have a couple possible leads to fix our project, namely updates to our I2C code. Hopefully this will work out for us.

Also, the D2 Item Toolkit is almost completely back to ANSI C++ compliance. This will assure easier portability to Linux/UN*X as well as Mac OS X.

02-10-2004, 11:25AM

After completing tons of work on the Diablo 2 Item Toolkit (and making it compliant with version 1.10), I have found that there are some major code portability issues, regarding the use of C vs. C++ constructs. Damm, damn, damn, damn.

Oh well, they always say the second revision of any proggy is much better...

02-09-2004, 3:00PM [BF]

Our presentation in the research class went off smoothly, with the exception of running long on time.

Still no joy on the sensor front. We've had to bring in our advisor. Stay tuned for the gory details.

02-07-2004, 1:00AM [BF]

A little guitar jamming with Brian C. Good to be back in the saddle again with an acoustic, so to speak.

Also, some good dinner and some Guinness stout.

Oh yeah, and props to the cute blonde with the high boots and the fishnets. Zesty.

UPDATE 2-9-2004: Doug reminds us that Guinness should be at 42.8 degrees before serving. That's using the website, Doug. Boy, that's some buttery tasting beer, right buddy? :D

02-06-2004, 11:20AM [BF]

Very bad news today on the Design Project front. The sensor only ranges reliably to 13 inches, when its rated distance is 6 meters. Oh boy.

02-04-2004, 11:40PM

Sorry for the lack of updates the past couple days - just been under the gun with a few things. Some for my business, others for school, and yet others for organizing my home office.

Very good news today on the Design Project front. I wrote some code today to do some range-finding with our ultrasonic sensors and it is working beautifully. I'm also assured that the lights and sound subsystem is up-to-spec, so we'll just need to make sure it integrates properly with our whiz-bang microcontroller.

The only way this code could be tighter is if it was pure assembly language. And, no, I don't do that anymore.

02-02-2004, 5:07PM [BF]

After seeing some of the presentations being given by students, I'm forced to shudder. Isn't speech class required anymore? When I was their age...

02-01-2004, 11:44PM

Happy February folks! I hope tomorrow will not repeat for any of you!

I have made MAJOR updates to the look and feel of the software pages, to make them look more "conventional."
