Herein lie the stories sung of Nikhil when the world was young.

So what would make me ditch the usual Wednesday night plans? Only CrawDaddy knows, and he's not telling. But it's a safe bet that Aarika is involved.
07-29-2003, extremely latenight
OK, tons of bonus points to Aarika, for, well... you don't really need to know. Suffice it to say this girl can really get in my head. Of course, I can do that to her too, so there is symmetry there.

Yet more good MCSE news. I just took my 70-215 exam: Installing, Administering and Configuring Windows 2000 Server. This test was definitely harder, and some of the scenario questions just took time, but I passed it. 3 down, 4 to go.

So, remember good old Danielle, who I thought to be a female version of me? Well, sit down, sister and make room for Aarika. Yes, the name is basically Erika spelled differently.
Remember that scene from The Saint where Elizabeth Shue turns Val Kilmer's little trick back around on him and starts describing him perfectly? It is a very shocking experience to have someone do that to you after only knowing them for a few days. WOW.
This could quite possibly be... GASP... my perfect girl.

FLOOD DAY. Quite definitely the most frightening driving I have ever had, bar none.
07-24-2003
More good news on the MCSE front today. I sacrificed part of my vacation day to take the Microsoft 70-210 exam - Installing and Administering Windows 2000 Professional. I passed it easily, and finished the test in 1/4 the allotted time. 2 down, 5 to go.

The components for my Case-Cooling Mod Phase 1 have arrived. They include new 80mm blue LED fans, rounded UATA cables and a new 6-device fan controller that fits in a 5.25" drive bay.
With a some help from my dad, who came by and wanted to do something interesting, everything was installed, rewired and organized inside of 3 hours.
It lookes very cool (and very blue), and it's all ready for the major mod - the Phase 2 CPU cooling setup.

The demo today went very well, and my presentation went very smoothly, if I do say so myself.
Now, the dish on last night. Pretty good attendance from a lot of people I hadn't seen in quite a while. Of course, far too much smoking, but that was to be expected. Was there far to much drinking, you ask? No more so than any other after-hours event with IT personnel! We had the private VIP lounge downstairs - pool tables, foosball, snacks, etc. At this point, I must admit 3 things:
- My pool-playing skills are definitely sub-par. I need to get back into practice. The weekend hours at Legends are killing me - who the hell doesn't open until 4PM on weekends?
- Scott is the king-hell foosball player, without contest. Geez. I bet he was the guy in the frat house that always was hanging out on that table, rather than the pool table.
- I realize the Espy awards are not for spanish-people. I admit - it was a blonde moment. I was thinking of the ALMA awards. See, they DO exist, Sam!
That being said, after the party, the "real party" got started (for a tiny subset of friends - names withheld to protect the not-so-innocent), with a trip over to the Platinum Horse, in good old Akron.
I was quite impressed by the quality of girls here. 7/10 were decent and a few were outstanding. As always a few favorites: Diamond, Miriah, Darby(?), and Rush. In no particular order. Oh, and double table-dances rock. Props to Diamond for working the hell out of the pole and to Diamond and Miriah for the last double (we'll just say it looked innocent enough, unless you were *this* close to see what was going on). Never has zesty times 2 been more clear.
Hope A. doesn't mind getting stood up tonight! Oh, and props to CrawDaddy for getting the ultimate birthday cake setup from Diamond. Just blow out the candles, man... ;)

A long, hard day at work today. My twin brother and I had a lot of prep work to get our mobile "micro-lab" ready for a MAJOR presentation tomorrow. We worked a bit late, but pulled it off.
As some of you know, the company is paying for a party at Jillians tonight to celebrate our good revenue month. I'll give details tomorrow.

Golf Day!!! Finally!! Good weather!
The Night Train and I went out for the usual game at The Sanctuary. This time, we played the full 18 and got lazy and took a cart. We had a lot of fun, had a decent game, and even got a tee-time without a call-ahead (it's good when they know you).
We both tied our score on the front nine at 52 (I did a little worse than my last time out), and in a shocking move, also tied the back nine at 59. This was not a great score, but we each had 2 holes where we picked up 10-11 strokes. (The lose-your-cool effect; not anger, just lack of focus.) My game on the 18th was nothing short of comical, after I lost a ball in the open fairway!!! (Go figure...) Anywho, I ended up hitting a 4-foot-shot, a shot into a bunker, another shot into a bunker, a shot that didn't make it out, a shot that barely made it out, an over-short chip, etc... YIKES!
We both hit some solid shots too, and if it weren't for the bad holes, we'd have broken 100, easy. Props to Herb the guest golfer, for making us look good by comparison. [Oh, and did I mention we turfed the course with the cart? Yup.]

I went ahead and ordered the first phase of my PC cooling system overhaul last night.
The targeted system is DeltaForce-1, and it will receive 3 new fans and a bay-bus type 6-channel fan controller. Very cool! (get it, cool? ha!)
FYI, Phase 2 will consist of a gigantic all-Cu heatsink and a new 92mm fan (controlled, naturally, thru the bay-bus).

I feel bad for Malchorious. He has to work today and tomorrow.
But, I feel good that I don't have to!

Gee, an insane storm to drive through in the middle of summer. Am I surprised?
Nothing surprises me anymore. (Unless I wake up one morning with giant b00bs.)
On the up-side, an excellent Wild-West themed episode of Monster House.

Guess I'm cutting out on Terminator 3 tonight. I'm standing up for what I said over a year ago. I will watch T3, but I will not jump on the opportunity, nor will I relish it. It will be a lazy weekend matinee. No more, no less.
To quote James Cameron (director of the first 2), "T3 without me."
On a more melancholy note, my thoughts and prayers are with N. N. I wish your soul peace in these troubling times. Anyone vaguely spiritual say an extra mantra tonight.

Happy Independence Day!
Please take a moment to remember all the true patriots that died for the
causes of Liberty, Justice and Freedom. Don't
ever let people take those freedoms away from you, not even election-stealing
would-be tycoons. The constitution gives us all rights, but the Supreme
Court can wear away at them. Learn your Civics class materials and be
ever vigilant of the "harmless" beginnings of a tyrant.
07-02-2003, evening [BF]
The usual band gig tonight was interesting, at best. I must publicly admit that I was downright ashamed of my skill level tonight. I don't know what it was, but I just couldn't hold it together, and the harder I tried, the further it slipped away from my grasp.
I know everyone has bad days, but that was really disheartening. Oh well - I guess it's my turn, right?
Oh, and props to Bret for his best performance yet! Very impressive. Also, anti-props to my new singing coach at the video poker machine.
